THE BIBLE TALK

Death is a very sad occasion whether accidental or natural causes.  We all in our lives have to face the death of loved ones, relatives, friends, neighbours and acquaintances.

What does the Bible say about this question?

In Genesis Ch 2 v 7 we read:-

"The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being."  This quotation is taken form the New International version of the Bible.

The doctrine of the immortal soul is not found in the Bible and the word "being" is a better definition of the old word "soul."  (NIV)

Death came about because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve when they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Death was the penalty of their sin in disobeying God's law which passed to all mankind.  In the time of Noah, God sent the flood upon the earth to destroy mankind because of their wickedness and only Noah and his family were found faithful and they escaped in the Ark.

So what happens when we die?  "The soul that sinneth it will die."  When we die we perish and rest unconscious in the grave.  (Hell is another name for the grave).

In Luke 16 v 23 we read the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.  Riches in this world count for little compared with those to come in the coming Kingdom of God.  The raising to life of Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha astounded the common people but the Jewish leaders would not believe it.

Is there any hope for Life after Death?

THE GOSPEL IS THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ, the Son of God committed no sin and was put to death for the sins of the world. The grave could not hold him because he did no sin and he rose from the dead to life everlasting. Death might not be the end of life for each and everyone of us.  As Jesus was raised from the dead so we may receive the gift of eternal life if we are found worthy,.

The Lord Jesus Christ will be returning to the earth to set up his kingdom upon the earth.  "He that believes and is baptised will be saved and walk in newness of life."  The message it contains is vital for all, for we will perish unless we believe in the Bible.  Death is the end for those who do not accept God's word but those that believe the gospel and our baptised into Christ Jesus our Lord, they by God's grace, will find a place in God's kingdom upon the earth.
