I was tempted into buying some Ordnance Survey maps of
parts of Scotland, since they were being sold at a 75%
discount in Grantham market, and I like a good map to
read. I mean that seriously, because I do enjoy looking
at maps of faraway places and imagining what they must be
like. Scotland may not be all that far away (it depends where you live) but its glens and moors and mountains are completely different from the urban parts of the country where most of us live. I was struck by the amount of land area in Scotland not given over to production, either agricultural or otherwise. I'm sure if human beings had had a hand in designing Scotland it would be flat and covered with industry plus a few theme parks. As it is, God created the earth, including areas like rural Scotland which are no "use", but which are areas of majestic natural beauty. Have you ever considered the last verse of the first chapter of Genesis? "And God saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good." |
