Leviticus 11 v 39

And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.

"The law touched them at almost every point in their daily life - not only on special occasions, but in the hourly bearing of things. If a man touched a dead creature - even one that was clean and might be eaten - he was to be considered unclean for the whole day."
